Samuel Loppnow

Name : Samuel Loppnow
Age : 18 years old
From: Jeffries Bay
Surfing Years: 2.5 Years
Achievements :  NMBS 2017 u18 closed winner |NMBS u18 team 2017 and 2018 | Grom games 2017 (won all 3 trials) | Semi-final at Something good classic | Ranked 9th in u18 SSA 2017 | Invited to Senior SA Champs | Semi-final in Boss of the Moss | Sponsored by FCS, Rebel Surfboards, Reef South Africa and Seadog Sport

Story:
A total health freak, Samuel is very serious about his fitness and surfing. He loves to help the kids from the township by giving them surf lessons and is a level 1 certified SSA coach. He also helped at Grom Games this year by being spotter and paddling out with the kids and giving them advice. He is doing a full year on the JQS and plans on being a competitive surfer.

Thys Strydom (Rebel Boards) approached him about 2 years ago, after the Grom Games, offering mentorship and support – it was the beginning of a great partnership which has already started to bear fruit.
Since starting to surf competitively,  Samuel has made friends through the ocean and the sport itself has taught him a huge amount about nature, sparking a passion to preserve and protect the ocean.

Samuel has the obvious dream of making the WSL World Tour, but has also gained some new goals: - win a JQS (Junior Qualifying Series) event, win a QS (Qualifying Series) event, win a national title, make the national team and eventually win a world title. He has never been more motivated than he is now and is more than willing to put in the hours and sacrifice to make it to the top.

He loves to skate and is even teaching some of the younger kids some tricks.
